WAYNE HELSBY ELECTED TO SERVE AS A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE NINTH CIRCUIT ON THE FLORIDA BAR’S BOARD OF GOVERNORS

Winter Park, FL – December 17, 2013 – Wayne Helsby, a Partner with the labor and employment law firm Allen Norton & Blue, P.A. has been elected to serve as a representative from the 9th Circuit on the Florida Bar’s Board of Governors.

Mr. Helsby, a resident of Winter Park, received his Juris Doctor from Florida State University, his master’s degree from Rutgers University and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Florida Bar’s Trial Lawyer’s Section. Mr. Helsby is a past president of the Orange County Bar Association and a previous Member of the Judicial Nominating Commission, Ninth Judicial Circuit.

At Allen Norton & Blue, Mr. Helsby has specialized in a broad array of employment and labor related cases, including harassment and discrimination litigation, bargaining matters, personnel consultation, and unemployment compensation.

The 52-member Board of Governors is made up of the President and President-Elect of The Florida Bar, the President and President-Elect of the Young Lawyers Division, individuals elected by bar members from each of the 20 state judicial circuits, four out-of-state representatives, and two public members appointed by the Florida Supreme Court.

The Board of Governors has exclusive authority to formulate and adopt matters of policy concerning the activities of the Bar, subject to limitations imposed by the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar.
