Tallahassee (May 5, 2015) – A team of lawyers from Allen Norton & Blue won big at the Boys Town of North Florida Smoke-Off, taking home a repeat victory as Overall Best BBQ Champions this past Saturday, May 2, 2015. Firm shareholders Robert E. Larkin III, Michael Mattimore, Jason Vail and associates Mark L. Bonfanti and Matthew Stefany spent the day behind the barbeque smoker and grill, turning out their award winning fare to benefit the Boys Town of North Florida.

The firm’s residential pitmasters, Larkin, Mattimore, Vail, Bonfanti and Stefany have been grilling together after-hours for 10 years. Competing in about four regional barbeque contests per year, which benefit various charitable organizations throughout north Florida, the team has won 16 trophies together. This is the second consecutive year that the group has competed in and won the Boys Town of North Florida Smoke-Off; the attorneys also won first place for their pork plate composed of pork meatballs, pulled pork sliders, and candied bacon - and second place for their rib entry.

“We began competing in barbeque cook-offs when our firm was invited to participate in the Boys Town of North Florida Smoke-Off about ten years ago, and it all just grew from there,” said Michael Mattimore, managing partner at the Tallahassee Office of Allen Norton & Blue. “These competitions have become a fun way to get together outside of the office and still give back to the community while, of course, serving up some great barbeque.”

Boys Town of North Florida is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving at-risk children in the foster care system. Helping an average of 30 children per year, Boys Town of North Florida cares for both boys and girls who have difficulty in the foster care system by working with them to find permanent living arrangements.
